Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth by Henci Goer
I really enjoyed this book because it's thoroughly researched. She gives you all the information, which may be overwhelming at times, but will make you a well informed participant during your birth.

The Birth Partner by Penny Simkin
This book is ideal for your birth partner, hence the name, but also I found much of the content useful for the mama as well.

Ina May's Guide to Birth by Ina May Gaskin
Birth Matters by Ina May Gaskin
Both of these books are terrific. Everyone should read some Ina May. The birth stories in both will inspire and empower mamas and reframe birth as a natural, normal experience.

Birthing From Within by Pam England
This book explores the emotional aspects of birth alongside practical childbirth preparation as well. She uses birth art to allow both a mama and her partner express feelings about their upcoming birth and any feelings they may have during the postpartum period too.
